Meet Jordan Hoffnagle
I’m Jordan Hoffnagle, a father and a Texan running for Texas House District 100 because the families of southern Dallas deserve a representative who fights for them — not party bosses, not lobbyists, not special interests in Austin.
Working families in this district have been ignored, overtaxed, and forced to navigate systems that put politics ahead of people. Career politicians have forgotten who they work for. I’m running to change that.
My first fight is our family courts. Children need both parents, and Texas should start every custody case at 50/50 between two fit parents — then enforce the orders it hands down. A parent who follows the rules should not lose years with their kids because the other side knows the system has no teeth.
Beyond the courthouse, the priorities are just as plain. Texans should own their homes outright, not rent them back from the government through property taxes. Our high schools should hand juniors and seniors a paycheck and a trade, not just a brochure for a university they’ll spend twenty years paying off. Parents who teach their own children at home pay the same school taxes as everyone else and should have the same access to school choice dollars. And southern Dallas should get the highway capacity it has been promised for decades — built, finished, and free to drive.
This campaign isn’t about politics as usual. It’s about delivering for families who have waited far too long for someone to show up.
Priorities
50/50 Custody
Equal custody as the default starting standard for every fit parent. Enforcement with real consequences for repeat violations, children’s sports and extracurriculars written into standard orders as a required consideration, and no child support obligation for parents earning $50,000 a year or less.
Eliminate Property Taxes
End property taxes for Texas homeowners. You already paid for your home — you shouldn’t have to keep paying the government for the right to keep it.
Trade & Work-Study Credit
Require high schools to accept work-study programs for juniors and seniors, granting credit for 10 or more hours a week in a licensed trade, construction, networking, data cabling, or computer science. A diploma and a career, not a diploma and a loan.
School Choice for Homeschoolers
Homeschooling parents pay the same school taxes as every other family in Texas. School vouchers should be available to them as well.
Highways, Not Tollways
Build the I-35E to I-45 bypass south of the Trinity and add highway capacity for the commute between southern Dallas and downtown. Paid for once, free to drive — no tolls.
Body Camera Transparency
One year of mandatory footage retention, a straightforward process for residents to obtain it, and real penalties for unauthorized deactivation. An officer who commits a crime with the camera off never wears a badge in Texas again.
Term Limits
Term limits for every political office in Texas. Career politicians forget who they work for. Power should rotate through the people — not pool in Austin.
Legislation I’m Bringing to Austin
Most candidates show up with slogans. I’m showing up with drafts. These three bills are written, and they exist because the systems they fix broke on people I know.
Body Worn Camera Transparency Act
Footage belongs to the public that paid for the cameras.
- One-year minimum retention for all body worn camera footage
- A streamlined process for residents to request and receive footage
- Mandatory production of footage in civil and criminal proceedings
- Criminal and administrative penalties for unauthorized deactivation
- A permanent bar from Texas law enforcement for any officer who commits a crime while their camera is off
Family Court and Probate Accountability Act
The people who decide where your children live should answer for how they decide it.
- Limits on immunity for court-appointed actors — guardians ad litem, amicus attorneys, and custody evaluators
- A State Commission on Judicial Conduct with actual teeth
- Ad litem reports disclosed to both parties before the hearing, not sprung at it
Attorney Accountability and Client Protection Act
Texans deserve to know who they’re hiring before they hand over their savings.
- A public, searchable attorney grievance registry
- Written fee agreements required for any matter over $1,000
- Mandatory fee arbitration when a client disputes a bill
- A civil cause of action for attorney fraud
- An expanded Client Security Fund for people defrauded by their own lawyer
Also On My Agenda
Protecting the safety net for the people it was built for. Working Texans who hit a hard stretch — a layoff, an illness, a death in the family — should find the safety net intact when they reach for it. I’ll defend it.
School meals worth eating. A full accounting of what our districts actually serve at lunch, what it costs, and who profits from the contracts. Parents are entitled to that answer.
